Grants & Scholarships

Presented by the Texas Nurses District 9 Foundation

The Texas Nurses District 9 Foundation is proud to support the growth, education, and advancement of nurses through a variety of scholarships and grants. We are now accepting applicants for the 2025 cycle.

 

D9 Grant

Awarded to support educational advancement in nursing.
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must demonstrate financial need and be one of the following:

  • Enrolled in an RN nursing program and a member of the Texas Nursing Students’ Association (TNSA) in District 9
    OR
  • A Registered Nurse in good standing enrolled in a higher degree or certification program in nursing and a member of Texas Nurses Association (TNA) District 9

 

Sabina Fritsch Public Health Scholarship

A specialized scholarship for nurses with a passion for community-based care.
Additional Requirements:
Applicants must meet D9 Grant eligibility and demonstrate:

  • Experience in public health, community health, hospice, home health, or ambulatory care (e.g., nursing roles, patient education, volunteer service)
  • A discussion of career goals and plans within these areas

 

Carol Coats Mental Health Scholarship

Dedicated to advancing psychiatric and mental health nursing.
Additional Requirements:
Applicants must meet D9 Grant eligibility and demonstrate:

  • Experience in the mental health field (e.g., clinical work, education, volunteer involvement)
  • A discussion of career goals and plans in mental health nursing

 

D9 Nursing Scholarship for Clinical Projects

Supports RNs conducting clinical or research-based projects.
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must be:

  • A Registered Nurse involved in a clinically relevant nursing project
  • A current member of TNA District 9

Project examples include:

  • Thesis
  • Dissertation
  • Capstone project
  • DNP project
  • Healthcare organization quality improvement or research project

 

Donna Wooten Nursing Education Scholarship

Honoring the legacy of Donna Wooten, this scholarship supports community college-level nursing students.
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must demonstrate financial need and be enrolled in one of the following programs:

  • LVN to Associate Degree RN
  • LVN to Bachelor RN
  • Associate Degree RN

Funded by: Friends and family of Donna Wooten through the Texas Nurses District 9 Foundation Scholarship Fund.
