TNA District 9 Nursing Awards

Texas Nurses Association District 9 is proud to recognize the outstanding contributions of nurses in our community. Through our annual awards program, we honor those who exemplify leadership, compassion, and dedication to the nursing profession. Each award represents a unique aspect of excellence in nursing and is a reflection of the values upheld by our district.

Dorothy Otto Lifetime Achievement Award

Named in honor of Dorothy Otto, a long-time advocate and leader in Texas nursing, this prestigious award celebrates a nurse who has made a significant, sustained impact on the profession over the course of their career. Recipients of this award have demonstrated unwavering commitment to nursing advocacy, mentorship, and professional excellence.
Eligibility: A TNA District 9 licensed nurse with a long-standing record of service, leadership, and contribution to nursing in Texas.

Outstanding Nurse Award

This award recognizes a nurse who consistently goes above and beyond in their practice, whether in clinical care, education, or administration. The recipient serves as a role model for peers and embodies the values of integrity, excellence, and compassionate care.
Eligibility: Licensed nurse currently practicing in the Greater Houston area, nominated by peers or supervisors.

Nomination Process

Nominations for all awards typically open in late summer and close in early fall. Nominations must include a detailed statement of support, describing how the nominee meets the criteria for the award, along with optional letters of recommendation. Award recipients are selected by a panel appointed by the TNA D9 Board of Directors.
